Wildest platform shoes of all time

feminine
One glance at these completely outrageous platform heels, and it's clear Lady Gaga was the inspiration. Shoe company United Nude designed these tailor-made pair of shoes as an ode to Gaga's "Fame" perfume ad campaign where miniature naked men scale her body.

With a staggering 12-inch heel and tiny gold men attached all over, these shoes are a pretty literal translation of Gaga's perfume commercial. Not that we'd expect anything less over-the-top for a Gaga-inspired product. A plain black pair of stilettos just wouldn't be a fitting tribute to Gaga.

And while these shoes are totally extreme, there are actually other shoes out there that give these Gaga platforms a run for their money. We rounded up some more of our favorite ankle-breaking footwear:

1. Hoof Heels
feminine
Any crazy shoe roundup should include Alexander McQueen's famous hoof heels. We do not envy the models who had to brave the runway in these lethal weapons.

2. Down the Rabbit Hole
feminine
Nicholas Kirkwood is known for his bizarre shoe creations, and these "Alice in Wonderland" heels are no exception. Can you spot all the storybook references? We see red roses, tiny teacups, keys, pocket watches ...
3. Pokemon Clogs
feminine
An interesting mashup of traditional Dutch footwear and the classic Japanese Game Boy game "Pokemon," these shoes definitely target a niche audience -- though we aren't quite sure who that niche audience would be …

4. Abacus Shoes
feminine
Stripper heels + wooden abacus = hours of fun for your toddler? It does seem like the perfect idea if you're at the doctor's office with your kid, and there are no waiting room games in sight.
